John Saccomanno is a longtime golf-tournament bartender who has worked events including The Masters, PGA Championships, U.S. Opens, Ryder Cups, TPC Sawgrass, LIV Golf Chicago, and many more. The recipes featured here come from drinks he has personally prepared and served at tournaments across the country. 🏆 The Master's — Beverage of Choice
Azalea

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz Vodka
  • 5 oz Lemonade
  • ½ oz Grenadine
  • Orange wedge & maraschino cherry garnish

Preparation

Fill a glass with ice, add vodka, lemonade and grenadine — and there you have it, the most popular refreshing drink served to tens of thousands every year at that tournament in Georgia.

🍊 Garnish tip: Cut your orange into segments, skewer a maraschino cherry and orange wedge on a beverage pick, and float on top of the drink — just like they do in those green cups.

🏌️ Byron Nelson Classic — TPC Craig Ranch, McKinney, TX
Bloody Mary

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz Vodka
  • 5 oz Zing Zang Bloody Mary Mix
  • 4 dashes Worcestershire
  • 2 dashes Tabasco
  • Lime wedge garnish

Preparation

In a tall glass filled with ice, add Vodka, Bloody Mary Mix, Worcestershire and Tabasco. Pour into another glass or shaker, then back into the serving glass to blend all ingredients thoroughly. Garnish with lime wedge.

🍹 Bloody Mary Bar Ideas: Horseradish, celery stalks, pepperoncini & cherry peppers, pepperoni-mozzarella-cherry tomato skewers, shrimp cocktail on a golf tee, kosher salt, coarse ground black pepper, lemon pepper. Provide tiny spoons for the appropriate items.

Sawgrass Splash

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz Orange Vodka
  • 3 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 4 oz Orange Juice
  • ½ oz Lime Juice
  • Orange slice garnish

Preparation

In a tall glass filled with ice, add all ingredients and stir well. Garnish with an orange slice on the rim.

Fairway Margarita

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz Maestro Dobel Silver Tequila
  • ½ oz Agave Syrup
  • ½ oz Lime Juice
  • 3 oz Zing Zang Margarita Mix
  • Lime slice garnish
  • Salted rim (optional)

Preparation

Rim glass with kosher or sea salt by squeezing a cut lime around the rim of the glass, then rotate glass into salt on a plate. Add ice and all ingredients, stir well. Garnish with a lime slice on rim.

PGA Old Fashioned

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
  • ½ oz Simple Syrup
  • 3 dashes Bitters
  • Orange slice
  • Luxardo Cherry
  • Orange peel & Luxardo cherry skewer garnish

Preparation

In your serving glass, add orange slice, bitters, simple syrup and a Luxardo cherry — then muddle. Add ice and Bourbon, stir. Garnish with an orange peel and a Luxardo cherry skewer.

🍊 Pro tip: Give the orange peel a twist to emit the oils of the orange over the top of the drink — it makes all the difference.

Dewar's Lemon Wedge

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz Dewar's 12yr Scotch
  • 3 oz Club Soda
  • 2 oz Lemonade
  • Thick lemon slice garnish

Preparation

In a tall drink glass filled with ice, add Dewar's, Club Soda and Lemonade. Stir well.

Authentic touch: For authenticity, skewer a thick-sliced lemon on a golf tee and rest it atop the drink — just like they did at the U.S. Open.

⚡ LIV Golf Chicago
LIV Espresso Martini

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 2 oz Kahlúa
  • 2 oz Cold Brew Espresso (chilled)
  • 3 coffee beans garnish

Preparation

In a shaker tin filled with ice, add all ingredients. Shake vigorously. Strain into a Martini glass and top with 3 coffee beans for good luck.

Pro tip: Chill the glass beforehand if possible — it keeps the martini cold longer and gives you a beautiful froth on top.

🍀 The Ryder Cup
Irish Iced Coffee

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Bushmills Black Bush Whiskey
  • 8 oz Espresso Martini Mix or Nitro Cold Brew
  • ½ oz Simple Syrup
  • Baileys Irish Cream
  • Whipped Cream topping

Preparation

Pour Bushmills and simple syrup into a tall glass of ice. Stir well to combine. Pour in cold brew coffee, leaving room for the creams. Add Baileys Irish Cream and top with whipped cream.

Scotch Smash

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Scotch
  • ¾ oz Simple Syrup
  • 3 dashes Orange Bitters
  • 3 sprigs Fresh Mint Leaves

Preparation

Muddle Scotch, syrup, bitters and 2 mint sprigs together. Add ice and stir. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig.
